• The North Carolina State Highway Patrol's primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible.

Key Requirements

• Currently certified by North Carolina in Basic Law Enforcement Training
• 21 years of age by first day of basic school
• No more than 39 years of age on first day of basic school
• High School diploma or equivalency (GED)
• Score at or above 10th grade reading level
• Valid drivers license and good driving record
• 20/30 vision in each eye corrected
• Must pass Polygraph Examination
• Must pass Extensive Background Investigation
• Must pass Medical/Physical Exam
• Must score at or above 60% on Cooper Physical Fitness Test
• Must pass Psychological Examination
