Job Summary

  • It is the responsibility of the cook to manage and operate the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
  • Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner while preparing tasteful meals and special diets accurately.
  • Report resident care concerns and potential issues to Administrator and/or Director of Nurses and participate in the orientation and on-going training of dietary staff.

  • Prepare meals in large quantities

  • Ability to make food presentation appealing
  • Participate in staff orientation and training
  • Experience with PCC
  • Cooperate and work under supervision

Key Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year cook experience in hospital or long term care
  • Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certificate
  • Must remain in good standing with Department of Public Health
