Job Summary

  • The primary role and responsibility of the Instrument Technician is to ensure the effective and efficient processing of all reusable medical devices within the policy and guidelines of the Sterile Processing Centre and State and National Standards.
  • All Instrument Technicians are members of the multidisciplinary Sterile Processing Centre team.
  • The Sterile Processing Centre, as part of St Vincent’s Perioperative Services provides a critical service enabling and supporting the functioning of St Vincent’s operating theatres & endoscopy suite.

Key Requirements

  • Certificate III or IV in Health – Sterilisation Services
  • Less than three (3) months experience (full-time equivalent) as an Instrument Technician (Grade 1)
  • Minimum three (3) months experience (full time equivalent) working as an Instrument Technician (Grade 2)
  • Minimum twelve (12) months post qualification experience (full-time equivalent) as an Instrument Technician (Grade 3)
  • Minimum three years’ experience (full-time equivalent) as an Instrument Technician (Grade 4)
  • Holds a Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services (HLT47015) or equivalent (Grade 4)
