Skills & Requirements

Must-have

  • Visual Testing Level II Certification per AAR M1002
  • Ability to enter tank cars through 20-inch manways
  • Working knowledge of AAR and FRA regulations
  • Proficiency with AS400 and Railsource systems
  • Physical ability to climb ladders up to 14 feet

Nice-to-have

  • Strong knowledge of tank car design and airbrakes
  • Additional certifications like AWS CWI or AMPP Coating Inspector
  • Experience with root cause corrective action processes
  • Knowledge of corrosion and welding inspection requirements

Key Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of relevant railcar repair or inspection experience
