Key Requirements

  • Currently qualify for NBIS as a bridge or tunnel inspection team leader
  • Ability and experience to lead the work of others
  • Possess knowledge of bridge inspection methods and procedures
  • Experience with reporting procedures
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule
  • Must possess physical capability to navigate steep embankments, operate in confined spaces, perform inspections while climbing structures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • P.E. preferred
  • Completed comprehensive training course based on the FHWA Bridge Inspector's Reference Manual (BIRM) (NHI Course 130055) and FHWA Tunnel Safety Inspection (NHI Course 130110) and be current with refresher requirements
  • Approved as a MassDOT/ MBTA Inspection Team Leader
  • Additional National Highway Institute (NHI) coursework
  • Valid Driver's License
