Job Summary

  • The primary mission of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is to provide science-based environmental stewardship for the health and prosperity of all North Carolinians.
  • This Lead Mapping Technician is responsible for planning and carrying out field work, including biological sampling and strata delineations with the use of drone and GIS technologies, safely navigating boats through coastal waters, maintaining, and designing sampling gear, coding, and analyzing data, mapping and reporting results, and ordering supplies and equipment.
  • Employees have a significant public relations role and will maintain a working knowledge of changes in the industry and be able to explain Division policies and regulations.
