Skills & Requirements

Must-have

  • Pass AWS D1.1 weld test
  • Operating robotic and manual MIG weld machines
  • Perform quality checks utilizing weld gages
  • Perform in station repair on defective welds
  • Follow documented procedures standard work

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with operating robotic welding systems
  • Experience with blueprint reading
  • Experience working in manufacturing environment
  • Intermediate proficiency in welding skills
  • Proficiency in reading AWS welding symbols

Key Requirements

  • Must be rising Junior or Senior at Georgia County high school
  • Must pass AWS D1.1 weld test including specific positions
  • Must have support of parent or legal guardian
  • Must have reliable transportation to Caterpillar Athens plant
  • Must be 16 years of age or older by July 2025
  • Must maintain 2.5 GPA or better academic standing
