Oregon Steel Mills LLC is seeking a Program Manager for their Plate R&D Program, responsible for overseeing product development and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate should possess a strong educational background in metallurgy or mechanical engineering, substantial experience in steel product development, and excellent project management skills

Job Summary

  • This position manages the overall scientific and technical aspects of the Plate R&D Program and acts as the key interface between R&D and the internal and external stakeholders.
  • In this role, you will be responsible for Oregon Steel Mill’s new product development initiatives and will also work closely with the operations and technical services teams to develop and implement process solutions.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum MS in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 8 (12 for MS) years of experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing technical teams
  • Experience in mechanical and plate specific testing
  • Experience working with customers on product qualification
  • Experience developing external research partnerships
  • Advanced knowledge of steelmaking, hot rolling, forming, welding and heat treatment
  • Knowledge of plate product standards and specifications
  • Project management, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently
