Key Requirements

  • Certified by North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training
  • Must be 21 to 39 years old at start of Basic School
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Score at or above 10th grade reading level
  • US citizen or naturalized citizen
  • No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Vision 20/30 in each eye corrected
  • Pass polygraph, background, medical, psychological exams
  • Pass Cooper Physical Fitness Test with 60% or higher
