Job Summary

  • This role provides critical expertise in hull, structural, and coating systems to support the structural integrity of forward-deployed U.S. Navy vessels.
  • The successful candidate will conduct on-site inspections, evaluate corrosion, and develop repair recommendations in a high-tempo operational environment.
  • Candidates must be willing to obtain a Shipboard Corrosion Assessment Technician course within six months of hire and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Must-have

  • U.S. Navy shipboard hull inspection experience
  • Structural assessments and corrosion evaluations
  • Ship stability calculations during casualty response
  • Familiarity with MFOM/NMD and FTS reporting systems
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Willingness to travel OCONUS and work on ships

Nice-to-have

  • Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering
  • Experience supporting forward-deployed naval forces
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or FEMAP modeling tools
  • Background in dry-docking assessments
  • Prior Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) experience

Key Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience inspecting U.S. Navy shipboard hulls
  • Ability to perform structural assessments and repair planning
  • Knowledge of ship stability principles
  • Familiarity with Navy maintenance systems (MFOM/NMD, FTS, MAFs)
  • Willingness to complete Shipboard Corrosion Assessment Technician course
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Secret security clearance
  • Ability to work independently at a journeyman level
