Job Summary
This role leads the scaling of unified data platforms that power Boston Dynamics' robot fleet including Spot, Stretch, and Atlas.
The engineer will build indexing and query layers allowing teams to access petabytes of heterogeneous robot data without understanding underlying storage.
You will serve as a technical lead for a team of six, driving architecture decisions and mentorship rather than people management.

Skills & Requirements
Must-have
8+ years architecting large-scale data platforms
Expertise in Spark and Kafka processing
Deep knowledge of Apache Arrow serialization
Proficiency in Rust, Go, or Java systems languages
Experience with BigQuery or custom data warehousing
Nice-to-have
Background in autonomous vehicle or global IoT domains
Experience mentoring engineers and setting standards
Familiarity with Linux development environments
Ability to define self-service workflows and documentation
Key Requirements
8+ years experience in data platform architecture
Mastery of high-volume low-latency data processing
Strong foundation in memory management and performance trade-offs
