Job Summary

  • This position is responsible for coding some or all of the following types of records: inpatient, outpatient clinic, and ancillary areas.
  • The position is primarily responsible for coding/billing of medical records and other documents for the patient’s visits.
  • This staff member is responsible for complete and accurate coding for hospital reimbursement, research, and planning, in accordance with productivity standards set for the department.

Skills & Requirements

Must-have

  • ICD-10-CM coding
  • CPT-4 coding
  • Automated encoder familiarity

Nice-to-have

  • Deciphering handwriting
  • Data entry into computer system

Key Requirements

  • CAHIIM approved coding certificate program or HIMT program
  • Satisfactory completion of OSUWMC’s coding test
  • RHIT, RHIA, CCS, COC, CPC-H, CPC, or Radiation Oncology Certified Coder credential
