The NC Department of Adult Correction is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws.
Work involves interviewing offenders to obtain information regarding past arrests/convictions, work records, and family social histories to develop treatment and sanction recommendations for court-ordered presentence and pre-parole investigations.
The JSC is responsible for planning their daily work operations, setting priorities, scheduling, and establishing deadlines for the caseload; must possess exceptional time management and organizational skills and must be able to work under stressful situations.
