Job Summary

• The Director of Nursing (DON) is a registered nurse responsible for the overall management of the entire nursing department, including staffing levels, policy development, and ensuring resident safety and respect.
• Key duties include developing and conducting in-services, recruiting and training nursing staff, coordinating pharmacy services, acting as a liaison between the facility, physicians, and family members, and managing department budgeting.
• The role requires active participation in QA, Utilization Review, Patient Care conferences, state surveys, MDS and care planning coordination, and employee appraisals, while also providing direct resident care as needed.
