Job Summary

• The Protection Officer provides technical leadership and coordination support to ensure protection responses across Cabo Delgado and Nampula Provinces are strategic, coherent and aligned with international standards and national frameworks.
• The role includes direct engagement with government authorities and partners to strengthen protection responses, civil documentation, referrals and access to rights in a complex, fluid and high-risk operational environment.
• The incumbent supports emergency response operations, conducts field missions, and contributes to the design, implementation and monitoring of comprehensive protection strategies for displaced and affected populations.

• Minimum 4 years relevant protection experience
• Undergraduate degree with 6 years experience or Graduate degree with 5 years experience
• Knowledge of international refugee and humanitarian law
• Experience in emergency and complex settings
• Portuguese language essential
• Experience with UNHCR protection frameworks
• Experience engaging government at provincial and district levels
